confession #000064

... or, the miracle makers

on a good day, this is what i wake up to (well, first i would have to get my coffee done, but anyway!)

the point is, i am, by far, the worst sleeper ever.  anyone who has ever shared a bedroom with me will confirm that.  it takes me forever to fall asleep and then, as soon as i wake up - which is generally at day-break, before my alarm goes off - i expect the world to wake up with me.  i don't know how to sleep unless it's pitch dark, i'm in a bed and it's eerily quiet.  sometimes i don't even manage that, as i tend to spook myself when it's just so quiet i can hear the neighbour's heartbeats.  i can't sleep at the beach or on a plane and it generally takes me a couple of nights to get accustomed to a 'foreign' bed.  so most times, i return home from trips abroad having hardly clocked 8 hours of sleep over two nights.

i guess it's something i've inherited from my mum and my grandma before her: the ability to go through a day with hardly 5 hours of solid sleep.  kudos to them for managing it, but in all fairness, i wish i could sleep a touch more ...

luckily, about a year ago i came across the 'miracle makers' as i like to call them.  during a stay in brussels, i found this mini-set from this works in my hotel room.  the concierge seems to have known about my inability to sleep properly and prepared them just for moi. well, at least that's what i like to think even though they were a hotel 'freebie'.

this works: sleep - 2 mini solutions for a better night's sleep does exactly what it says on the box.  and trust me, every time i use this combo, i fall into the deepest, most surreally serene slumber you can imagine.  so what are the 2 mini solutions i hear you ask ...

this works: breathe in (known as 'stress less' in the full size version) is a 5ml container with a roll-on nozzle so that you can apply the solution on your pulse points and breathe in.  the blend of frankincense and eucalyptus allows you to breathe easily throughout the night.

this works: deep calm pillow spray also comes in a 5ml container, this time with a spray nozzle to enable you to spray your pillow lightly just before going to bed.  the main ingredients are lavender, vetiver and camomile and we all know just how calming and soothing these herbs are.

if you tend to have sinus related issues (over and above erratic sleeping patterns) like yours truly, this duo is definitely what you are after.  the fragrance is not overpowering like many other solutions which are available on the market, so you won't wake up with cleared sinuses but a throbbing headache.  you'll wake up as you're intended to: with the will and power to conquer the world!

both options come in full sized options, but to be quite honest, i've been using them for a year on and off and the 5ml versions do go a long way, and once opened can be used for up to 24 months.  having said that, i'll be jealously watching every drop for the next 12 months! moreover, the 5ml versions are just so handy to carry around especially if you have a jet-setting lifestyle.

the only downside is that this works does limited international shipping, and unfortunately, malta is not on the list.  i'm not sure if there are any this works stockists on the island, but if you're geared on getting your hands on their products, which i strongly recommend, there is always the send-on option (or other similar solutions) you can opt for! it's a very small 'price' to pay for a proper night's sleep once in a while!
